The Bora Story
Established in 2017, Bora Coffee Co is a family run business situated at the heart of the community of Shirley, on the outskirts of Birmingham, UK. Father and son Ross & Greig are founding trustees of The Zuri Project – a charity that develops and delivers sustainable projects in south-western Uganda, and their interest in coffee piqued during the early days of The Zuri Project back in 2015.\r\nRoss in particular has spent lots of time in Uganda, Rwanda & Kenya and has learned a great deal about coffee at source. He has spent time in coffee growing communities and in Uganda and has even started a small coffee shamba of his own in Kanungu district.
By mixing charitable projects with business development, Ross created Bora with the idea of bringing exceptional and unique coffees to the UK market, whilst investing a proportion of the profits earned into locally led projects in coffee growing regions in Uganda. Since 2017 and in collaboration with a number of development partners including Opportunity Africa, Bora has supported the building of a secondary school, the redevelopment of a primary school and also the planting of an extensive coffee plantation in Kanungu district. We’re thrilled to be collaborating with coffee co-operatives, non-government organisations and our roaster, Youri, to bring you the finest quality, ethically sourced coffee that the African continent has to offer. We are constantly on the look out for innovative and pioneering organisations to work alongside, so if you’re interested in partnering with us, then please drop us a line.
